The Beginning?

How do I even start?

Well, if you somehow stumbled upon my page on accident or by luck, I’ll give a little back-story.

Family Picture ProneToRoam

My husband Nicolas, baby boy Thom, and I got stationed in Germany with the military almost two months ago. For so long I’ve wanted to pursue travel and document my adventures and finally have a chance to do so! Since we’re a military family, our travels might look a little different than yours, but I’ll do my best to give my totally biased opinions of places we encounter along the way.

I don’t consider us a typical family in many ways. We’re weird and dorky and basically food is our sole motivation. Our interests are pretty broad but I go crazy for Tolkien, Harry Potter, piano, Game of Thrones, and coffee. Nic is obsessed with videography, guitar, the Green Bay Packers, and any dish with “truffle” or “ginger” in the title. We like to stay active with weightlifting (I did not tell you I CrossFit ;) ) to account for all the unhealthy, albeit delicious, cuisine we consume while living in Europe.

We’re attempting to assimilate here as much as we can, trying to learn the language, embracing customs, and adopting the traditions. I’ve said before we don’t want to stand out as Americans and if it were up to us, we’d live here forever. In short, we’re trying to soak in as much as we can while we have this amazing opportunity.

So far we’ve traveled somewhere new each week and I’m excited to share some of the places with you in the coming months. Nic is helping hold me accountable to post regularly and even join in collaborations every now and then.

I don’t claim to be a great writer or wonderful photographer but this is what I love to do and I’d be just tickled to have you join me on this adventure. I’ll write what I see and experience and hopefully it sparks a little something in you to crave something new and different, or maybe helps you reminisce about places you’ve been in the past and can give us insight into. I’d love to hear your thoughts or questions if you have them.

I’m so glad you’re coming along for the ride!

Bis bald!
